SUKKUR: Providing free and excellent public health facilities to the citizens is one of the prime duties of the governments, but 22 crore Pakistanis are the unfortunate people who have suffered the scourge of their rulers, bureaucracy and negligence of doctors and are now near death.
Despite the 7 decades of establishment of Pakistan, due to the prisoners of their desires, this country could not provide free public health facilities to those born in its lap. Yes, it is also true that not only the rulers are responsible for the deterioration of the health sector in the dear country, the bureaucracy, hospital management, doctors and other staff also played a role in this disaster.
From the fiscal year 2021 to 2023, irregularities have been revealed in the purchase of medicines for the government hospitals of Sindh particularly in Sukkur. Irregularities worth billions of rupees have been revealed in the purchase of medicines for the government hospitals of Sindh. Survey report has stated that from the fiscal year 2021 to 23, irregularities have been revealed in the procurement of medicines for government hospitals, and it has been revealed that 4 billion rupees worth of medicines were purchased for government hospitals in Sindh without testing. The report revealed that Civil Hospital Sukkur purchased drugs more than 5 crores from private companies and the drugs were purchased from favored companies.
The Sindh Health Department should initiate a investigation into the scam and the provincial health secretary was asked to approach the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) to investigate the crime while also contacting them at the departmental level. An investigation should be ordered to be launch to expose those elements who were depriving people of free medicines
