Crackdown on power theft has become inevitable
Facilitating personnel of SEPCO involved in electricity theft should be identified

SUKKUR: Many officials of SEPCO were revealed to be involved in stealing electricity in Sukkur, Ghotki and Larkana region. Survey conducted by this scribe revealed that more than 9 SDOs, 29 LS, 52 LM and 24 drivers of SEPCO were reported stealing electricity in the entire SEPCO divisions, out of which 4 officials belong to Bunder Road Sub Division, 7 to Airport road subdivision, 6 to Golimar subdivision, 5 to peryaloi subdivision of Khairpur, 5 to Luqman subdivision against whom case of electricity theft should be registered. Due to the campaign launched against electricity thieves, there would be significant reduction in electricity theft incidents. SEPCO consumers and common people should identify the facilitators involved in electricity theft so that they can be eradicated.
Protests are ongoing in almost all the cities of the country against the increase in bills due to expensive electricity in Pakistan. In this regard, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar had also called a cabinet meeting in recent days.
The power minister and secretary, DG FIA, DG Sind Rangers also have been shared the list of those SEPCO officers involved in power theft and demanded them to compile strategy as action against them should be taken.
