SUKKUR: The Federal Investigation Agency’s Anti-Corruption Circle should take efforts in its Anti power theft investigation, unearthing a chain of SEPCO officers who have been facilitating power theft in Sukkur region.
The big crocodiles involved in the serious crime of electricity theft should be brought under the strict grip of the law, there should be no exception to those who harm the national treasury.
The cordon should be tightened against the electricity thieves across the region and the electricity connections of the elements involved in the heinous act of electricity theft should be immediately disconnected. The cases should be registered. All the relevant departments should ensure communication and actions should be taken on one page.
Some meters installed by SEPCO are removed by operation staff of various subdivisions including, Bunder road, Golimar, Arif builder, Old Sukkur, Rohri and others, and dummy meters with matching serial numbers are put in their place. These dummy meters are monitored every two to four days based on meter readings. Subsequently, they are replaced with the original meters, making it difficult for meter readers to detect the true electricity consumption. This results in significantly lower bills.
Electricity thieves as well as the SEPCO officers and employees who patronise them should also be brought to justice”.
A full-scale crackdown should be launched against electricity theft in the Sukkur Electric Power Company region.
