Supreme Court invalidated the NAB amendments

All the courts including NAB should take a decision regarding sending the cases to the competent courts in the next seven days

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan declared former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s petition against the amendments in the NAB Ordinance admissible and nullified the NAB amendments, according to which NAB’s cases against public office holders are withdrawn and NAB’s The pass includes provisions not to investigate cases of less than fifty crore rupees.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial pronounced this decision by a majority of two to one, while Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, who was included in this bench, also wrote a dissenting note disagreeing with this decision.
The Supreme Court has said in its decision that all the courts including NAB should take a decision regarding sending the cases to the competent courts in the next seven days.
In this decision, the amendment related to plea bargain was also invalidated. In the judgment, inquiry and investigation conducted in various cases have also been restored.
The Supreme Court in its decision has also said that these amendments are against the laws made in the constitution related to public interest.
