Extending the tenure of DG ISI is a matter of national security and will use my powers on it: PM

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar says he will use his constitutional powers to extend the tenure of the Director General of ISI (DGISI) on the issue of national security.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar during an interview on private TV channel ARY News’ program ‘Khabar’ did not confirm or deny the decision to extend the tenure of DG ISI and said that ‘DG The expansion of ISI is not a common issue to be discussed in public.
He said that the expansion of DG ISI is a matter of national security and I will use my (constitutional) powers for it.
Prime Minister Anwarul Haque Kakar says that the caretaker government will do all the work according to the law. He hinted at elections in a short period of time but refused to give any specific date as to when the general elections would be held.
In response to the question regarding the letter from the President of Pakistan to the Election Commission regarding the holding of the election, the Prime Minister said, “I think he has given a suggestion but not a decision.” He said that he is constitutionally the head of the country and he has expressed his opinion on this matter. And only they can answer about that.
Answering the question of when the election will be held, he said that I do not have any legal or final answer on the date of the election. However, I assure you that the caretaker government will not do anything illegal whether it lasts for a day or a month. National laws provide protection to the caretaker government. Conducting elections is the responsibility of the Election Commission and not of the caretaker government.
