FIA officers appointed in Sepco to break the nexus of corrupt officers, employees and power thieves to steal electricity

Civil society and the people of Bunder road, Jannah Chowk area demanded Sepco higher authority to take action against the most corrupt LM, Meter Supervisors and LS of Bunder road sub Division and Sukkur II subdivision on the large-scale facilitation in electricity theft

SUKKUR: FIA officers have been posted in electricity companies to break the nexus of distribution company officers, employees and power thieves in electricity theft.
The notification of the appointments of 3 officers of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has also been issued according to which these officers have been appointed in PESCO, SEPCO and HESCO.
According to the notification, FIA Deputy Director Sufi Abdul Hafeez Chachar has been posted to SEPCO and Acting Director Muzmal Ahmad Jatoi has been posted to HESCO.
The notification said that FIA officers will help in stopping power theft and increase recovery, these officers will also work to break the nexus of power thieves and employees in power companies.
While on the other side Civil society and the people of Bunder road, Jannah Chowk area demanded Sepco higher authority to take action against the most corrupt LM, Meter Supervisors and LS of Bunder road sub Division and Sukkur II subdivision on the large-scale facilitation in electricity theft. These corrupt officials have fixed Rs 20000 /month for running 1 AC through illegal connection.
Electricity theft is a national crime in which the officials involved should be made an example for others, electricity thieves are not only harming the institutions but also the public.
For facilitating electricity theft and neglecting duties area people demanded high level inquiry by FIA officials to root out the corrupt practices of these officials.
During the survey conducted by this scribe, all above officials were found to be involved in crimes like facilitating electricity thieves and neglecting their duties.
It should be noted that the operation against electricity theft is going on rapidly across the country, during which millions of rupees have been claimed to be recovered, while several cases have been registered and arrested in the operation.
