SUKKUR: According to the statement issued by the spokesperson of Sukkur Electric Power Supply Company (SEPCO), Tufail Ahmed Soomro, on the instructions of the Government of Pakistan, operations were being carried out day and night against power thieves and defaulters under the jurisdiction of SEPCO, in 10 districts of SEPCO. In the two month-long grand operation, more than 4 billion 90 crores have been recovered so far, 1 billion 2 crores from district Sukkur, 51 crores from Khairpur, 78 crores from Ghotki, 26 crores from Qamber, 64 crores from Larkana, 37 crores from Shikarpur, from Jacobabad 31 crores, Kashmore 23 crores, Dadu 38 crores while 41 crores have been recovered from Nowshehru Feroze district as fines imposed on electricity thieves and dues from defaulters.
3226 electricity thieves and defaulters from SEPCO including 2836 domestic consumers. , 250 commercial, 73 agricultural and 67 industrial consumers were involved in the statement shown. 1273 cases have been registered against them so far while 253 electricity thieves have been arrested by the police.
While in District Sukkur 79, Khairpur 287, Ghotki 143, Qamber 147, Larkana 114, Shikarpur 79, Jacobabad 58, Kashmore 76, in Dadu 158 cases have been registered in Nowshehru Feroz district, 618 of electricity thieves and defaulters so far. Transformers have been taken down. From District Sukkur 75, Khairpur 118, Ghotki 128, Qamber 15, Larkana 65, Shikarpur 39, Jacobabad 14, Kashmore 46, Dadu 54 transformers have been unloaded. 2045 villages have been cut off while taking action against defaulters.
Among these 305 of Sukkur district, Khairpur 126, Ghotki 377, Qamber 92, Larkana 103, Shikarpur 227, Jacobabad 159, Kashmore 194, Dadu 203 while 259 villages from Nowsehru Feroze district have been disconnected.
The recovery from dead defaulters with assistance is going from better to better, while neglect of duty and failure to control electricity theft strict departmental action has been taken against 86 employees of SEPCO including Xen, SDOs, Line Superintendents, Meter Readers, Linemen, Assistant Linemen, ASSEs and Bill Distributors while 10 employees have been fined heavily as a result of not controlling electricity theft by taking departmental action including ‘compulsory retirement’,
Securing of meters at all high loss feeders is in progress, maintaining a zero tolerance strategy against power theft, PRO stated.

CEO further added that along with this, our employees were also injured, but we have continued the series of vigorous actions against the accused with the help of the law enforcing agencies and have never given up and will never give up.
