Divisional Commissioner Visits SRSO Complex in Sukkur

SUKKUR: Sukkur’s Divisional Commissioner, Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, paid a visit to the Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) complex on Wednesday. During his visit, he received a comprehensive briefing from Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Muhammad Dittal Kalhoro on the organization’s activities and ongoing programs.
Mr. Kalhoro welcomed the Commissioner and, along with sector heads, presented a detailed overview of SRSO’s work. He particularly emphasized the organization’s focus on empowering rural communities through small-scale entrepreneurship, especially among women. He highlighted their unique household-based approach that fosters financial, social, and economic development at the grassroots level.
The discussion also touched upon the Union Council-Based Poverty Reduction Program (UCBPRP) implemented by the Government of Sindh. Mr. Kalhoro praised the program as a model for service delivery to impoverished rural communities. He explained how UCBPRP empowers local communities through social mobilization, enabling them to improve their livelihoods and income through Income Generating Grants (IGGs) and Community Funds offered as interest-free loans.
Commissioner Abbasi expressed his appreciation for SRSO’s valuable contributions to rural development in the region. He commended their innovative approach and dedication to empowering marginalized communities, particularly women. The visit solidified the commitment to collaborate and address the challenges faced by rural populations in Sukkur and beyond.
