Water level at sind barrages drop to dead level

SUKKUR: An acute shortage of water is bound to cause extensive damage to crops across Sindh, and reportedly agriculture sector of Sindh will be severely affected due to “a record shortage” of water in barrages.
After Tarbela, the pond level of Chashma is also at dead level
Emergency warning issued on all barrages and canals of Sindh.
Upstream at Chashma Barrage could not be increased and water level at
Guddu Barrage recorded a shortfall of more than 7,000 cusecs in 36 hours.
Irrigation officials said that the situation was aggravated due to low rainfall and non-melting of glaciers in upper parts of the country.
Water inflow at Chashma Barrage is 88,892 and outflow is 84,617 cusecs
Water inflow at Tunsa Barrage is 76,301 cusecs and outflow is 69,209 cusecs.
Water level at Guddu Barrage recorded 63,506 cusecs of water inflow and 55,061 cusecs of outflow and Water inflow at Sukkur Barrage is 54,550 cusecs and outflow is 20,105 cusecs. Water inflow at Kotri Barrage is 11,780 and outflow is only 125 cusec record.
Cotton, rice, sugarcane, corn and other seasonal crops cultivation hit hard.
