Senior Journalist Imran Riaz arrested by Punjab police

ISLAMABAD: Leading journalist Imran Riaz Khan, who was critical of the government, was arrested by police, as confirmed by the provincial law minister and Imran Riaz’s lawyer.
According to Indus News.One, Imran Riaz Khan was returning to Islamabad from Lahore when he was arrested near Islamabad Toll Plaza. A large number of police and Rangers personnel were present on the occasion.
Police sources told Express News that after receiving instructions from Lahore, Imran Riaz was arrested and his mobile phone, wallet and all other items were seized by the police. Attempts are being made to cover up the arrest. But then after the footage came to light, Attock police confirmed the arrest.
The team leading the arrest of Imran Riaz Khan was headed by RPO Rawalpindi and confirmed that he has been shifted to Airport Police Station.
Imran Riaz arrested in a case registered under the Electronic Crime Act, police said
Police officials confirmed the arrest of Imran Riaz Khan and said that he was arrested after a case was registered by a citizen named Malik Mureed Abbas. (This case is in addition to the other 17 cases listed).
According to a police spokesman, a case was registered against Imran Riaz Khan at City Attock police station under the Electronic Crimes Act and six other sections.
In the FIR, the citizen stated that he saw a video on social media in which Imran Riaz Khan tried to tarnish the image of the Pakistan Army.
