SUKKUR: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has arranged for the import of 979,000 tons of wheat for the entire Pakistan affected by severe floods. Out of this, more than 6 lakh tons of wheat has reached Pakistan, while the rest of the ships loaded with wheat have left for Karachi from Eastern European countries including Hungary, Bulgaria and France. On the order of the Prime Minister, the Trading Corporation of Pakistan has started importing wheat at the rate of 379 dollars per ton on open tender. On the other hand, the mafia has raised the prices to the highest level in the country’s history, while the provincial governments are watching the people hanging in the hands of the wheat mafia. Government is a silent spectator and has not taken any action against wheat speculators
