SUKKUR: Corruption of SEPCO staff has reached its peak in Sukkur city, extortion by private people was revealed in different areas of Sukkur, illegal connections started being given, according to details. The corruption of the staff and officers involved in corruption in different areas of Sukkur city has reached its height. The extortion of Sepco staff in Kandahari Hotel Chowk, Adam Shah Colony, Basheerabad , Arif builder, Binder Road, Achar galee area of Sukkur has made the lives of ordinary customers miserable. Fear is spreading here, while SEPCO staff have started extortion by private people, SEPCO officials are also helpless on complaints, legal consumers of electricity are worried due to extortion, on the other hand. The people using kunda connection give a happy look and advise the common users to steal electricity. Due to the Kunda connection in the area, there has been a series of power outages for many days.
The role of SEPCO staff in forcing the oppressed people to commit corruption comes to the fore, similarly electricity is being stolen in public in other areas including sub-division Bandar Road Sukkur Shamsabad, Barrage Colony, Bandhani Mahalla, Bhutta Road. While some corrupt employees of New Sukkur, Bachal Shah Miani, Qureshi goth 6 have been found involved in stealing electricity, from which thousands of rupees do reach in the pockets of SEPCO staff. Declared load-shedding and unauthorized cutting of electric wires are started, but the citizens are forced by blackmailing these corrupt officers and thousands of rupees are taken from them.
People have demanded from the top officials of SEPCO including CEO, and SE to take strict measures to protect them from the corruption of SEPCO, to take strict action against those involved in theft and extortion.
On the other side Civil society members raised banners against Sepco officials against the theft of electricity with the collusion of officers on a large scale and revengeful actions of officers.
