Country’s development lies in the rule of law: Advocate Sikandar Junejo

Fareed Soomro
SUKKUR: Senior jurist Sikandar Ali Junejo has said that the secret of the country’s development lies in the rule of law and the constitution, unless the system is strengthened and uniform, the problems will increase.
Speaking to senior journalist Fareed Soomro, Advocate Sikandar Junejo said that the people are suffering from serious problems at this time. Articles 8 to 28 of Pakistan constitution, provide basic rights to the people. However, due to the slowness of the government system, people are faced with more problems.
Referring to the recent rains and floods, Sikandar Junejo said that lakhs of houses and crores of people were affected but our system is not able to meet the immediate needs of these people, that is why most of the victims in Sindh alone are waiting for rehabilitation and in the next few days the severity of the cold will increase, international human rights organizations have expressed fear of the deaths of children and women due to lack of arrangements.
The senior advocate further said that in Article 4 of the Constitution, along with providing equal fundamental rights to all, the state has full freedom in addition to the establishment of law and order, providing security to the people, but unlike the Constitution, capitalists here , feudal lords, powerful forces and rulers have undeclared more and arbitrary rights.
Sikandar Junejo while commenting on Article 15 of the Constitution said that this article entitles all people to move freely while in our current system some parties are allowed to hold rallies, some parties are not even allowed to hold rallies. This is favoritism. Likewise, under Article 25, no citizen should be discriminated against, but in our country, especially in Sindh province, the police are not only used, but whenever they want, they pick up a citizen and lock him up. Those who don’t have resources, those people suffer severe torture, we disagree with such a system and pay attention to the higher authorities, Parliament, especially the Chief Justice of Pakistan to improve the laws, to implement the laws made equally. It is also a common complaint that according to the law the cases that are registered should be decided within 3 months to 6 months but the decisions are delayed in the courts.
