SUKKUR: Sindh High Court Sukkur Bench heard a constitutional petition filed by Advocate Khan Muhammad Solangi against corruption in development works in Khairpur district.
During the hearing, Advocate Khan Muhammad Sangi, while giving arguments, told the court that for development works in Khairpur district, funds of crores of rupees have been released by the Sindh government from time to time but corruption has been committed in the name of development works.
The court sought reply from the deputy commissioner of Khairpur and officers of other departments on the arguments of the lawyer, so they could not satisfy the court with their answers on which the court severely reprimanded them.
On this occasion, Justice Amjad Ali Sehto remarked that the amount of money that has come for Khairpur, if its notes had been laid on the road, it might have become a road. It is a pity that the money coming to provide facilities to the people is wasted on corruption, justice remarked.
The court on the occasion directed the NAB to conduct an inquiry and submit a report on how much money has been received and where it has been spent. The court later adjourned the hearing till July 13.
