Females of old Sukkur protested against sexual harassment by vagabonds

SUKKUR: Female members of Mirani community of old Sukkur held protest in front Sukkur Press club against wicked and unscrupulous boys of the area. Zeenat Bibi along with afshan khatoon, Faseh begum and others told journalists that debunched and immoral types boys of neighboring area were blackmailing zeenat bibi to develop illicit relation with them. Further they blamed that area boys Bilal, Mujeeb and Hassan indluged in requesting her for sexual favours,
making sexually coloured remarks. Thus it is the duty of the Law enforcement agencies to provide a safe environment for country women which is safe and free from sexual harassment, they demanded.
Reportedly these cases are only the tip of the iceberg; there are many more which are disregarded by the relevant authorities — an attitude that is usually motivated by deep-rooted patriarchal and feudal values, that prevent the reporting of such incidents, and keep perpetrators from being punished for their crimes.
