Food Department officers races for postings begin prior to start season

SUKKUR: The race for postings in the Food Department has commenced amidst allegations of corruption leading to the loss of billions of rupees during the government wheat sale in Sindh. The food mafia, responsible for depriving citizens of government subsidies, is actively seeking positions for the purchase of the new crop. The provincial secretariat in Karachi has turned into an auction house, with appointments pending for warehouse in-charges responsible for storing wheat valued at ten thousand five hundred rupees. Interestingly, officials implicated in the disappearance of wheat worth millions have also secured postings.
No any governments in the past have taken measures to make the annual wheat procurement campaign of the government transparent and free of any embezzlement. However, reports of corruption in the procurement process continue to surface every year.
To ensure transparency in the wheat procurement campaign in the province is inevitable to avoid a wheat or flour crisis in the future,”
