Helpless passengers being fleeced as transporters increase fares ahead of Eid

SUKKUR – Charging high fares from commuter creating acute difficulties as peoples are traveling to their natives places before Eid.  As per details, Like every year, the transporters have increased fares ahead of Eid ul Fitr, which is causing inconvenience to the passengers leaving for their hometowns to celebrate Eid with their loved ones and relatives, said the passengers. It is to mention over here that most of the people in Sukkur and its adjoining areas are migrants from various parts of the country who have to go to celebrate Eid with their families in native cities and towns. On the other hand, as per ugly practices long route transporters were openly looting helpless passengers by charging enhanced fares apart from charges of luggage. They demanded that the district administration should take advance measures to control the situation and action against the transporters. Meanwhile, Regional Transport Authority (RTA) was taking no any action in accordance with the law against the violators and has failed to form special teams to monitor the public transport fares.
