Petition against water shortage approved in SHC

SUKKUR: Water crisis in Sindh reaches court and the court granted the petition and fixed May 23 for hearing. In arguments Advocate Khalid Anwar stated that there is water scarcity in the whole of Sindh. Sindh is not being given its share of water. There is no water for drinking and agriculture in Sindh, even animals are dying, stated in petition.
Further in petition, advocate Khalid added that Irsa is well aware of this issue but the water is still off. Millions of people in the province, animals are dying and lands are becoming barren, Advocate Khalid Anwar. He demanded that Order be issued to submit report on water shortage in Sukkur, Guddu and Kotri Barrage in the court. In petition it is demanded that a judicial inquiry into water theft and abuse of power should be initiated. Irsa should be obliged to give its share of water to Sindh, petition demanded. The court has also sought documents from the concerned authorities.
