SUKKUR: The electricity supply could not be restored which had been suspended by Wednesday in the wake of heavy rain and hailstorm even after two days has passed without power in the hot weather.
Sources in Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO) told IN. One on Friday that 16 grid stations of 66 and 132 KV in Garhi Yaseen, Mirokhan, Ratodero, Shahdadkot, Garhi Khairo, Naudero, Larkana new, Warah, Qambar, Larkana city, Larkana SITE, Madeji, Dokri, Radhan, Johi and Wahi Pandhi had developed faults during the rain and strong winds.
About 11 poles carrying 500 KV lines had fallen in Dadu, Mehar, Nasirabad, Dakhan, Shikarpur, and Lodran and work was in progress to restore power supply to the affected areas as soon as possible, said the sources.
They said the Sepco staff was busy working in different towns and cities where either wire had fallen or the transformers had developed faults.
A big population is braving the absence of electricity which has affected routine life on hot summer days and rising mercury. The power suspension has also led to hiccups in the supply of drinking water in different localities and disrupted communication systems.
