SUKKUR – Outrage erupted in Sukkur as angry relatives of deceased patients accused a private hospital of criminal negligence, claiming it operates as a “slaughterhouse” for the poor.
The Red Crescent General Hospital, established under the guise of charity, stands accused of failing to provide basic care, leading to preventable deaths. The latest incident involved Minara Road resident Noorkhan Domki, who succumbed to illness before surgery in room number 201.
According to Mr. Domki’s family, hospital staff prioritized personal comfort over patient well-being. Despite urgent pleas for oxygen during Mr. Domki’s critical condition, the hospital’s cylinders were empty, and alternative arrangements were non-existent.
Adding to the family’s anguish, administrator Siraj Malik and other staff members remained unreachable, their phones switched off in the face of the crisis. Worse still, the hospital staff allegedly threatened the grieving family with police arrest when they attempted to protest the negligence.
The bereaved family, along with concerned citizens, have demanded immediate action from higher authorities. Their demands include a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident and the hospital’s overall practices.
They also demanded strict action against the negligent staff and administrators, including Siraj Malik, potentially involving criminal charges.
They demanded higher authorities removal of Siraj Malik from his position and implementation of measures to ensure proper patient care and prevent future tragedies.
It is crucial to note that this is not an isolated incident. The Red Crescent General Hospital has faced prior accusations of negligence and malpractices, with investigations currently underway against its administration. The public’s lack of faith in the authorities’ ability to hold the hospital accountable fuels further anger and frustration.
