Rs 30 increase in petrol price announced

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s federal government has announced Rs 30 per liter increase in the petrol price, which will be applicable from 12 o’clock tonight. This was announced by Finance Minister Miftah Ismail said in a press conference. The last day of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) review of Pakistan talks failed because the Fund had demanded the removal of subsidies from petrol and electricity. After this increase, petrol price will be more than Rs 179 and Rs 174 will be price of diesel per liter cost. Finance Minister said that IMF will not give loan till we increase the price of petrol, if we go for Imran Khan formula then diesel will be Rs 305, so government has decided to protect poor. The Finance Minister said that it has become inevitable to impose some burden on the people for petroleum products. Both the rich and the poor are benefiting from the subsidy on petrol.
