KHAIRPUR: In a promising development for promoting tourism in Sindh, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), recently met with Arshad Wali Muhammad, the provincial caretaker Minister of Tourism, and visited the Pakistan Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (PITHM) on January 5, 2024.
During his visit, Dr. Ibupoto held productive discussions with Hidayatullah, Head of PITHM, exploring potential collaborations to equip SALU students with valuable skills in the tourism industry. Both parties agreed to explore an MoU outlining internship opportunities for students from SALU’s Institute of Commerce at PITHM.
Recognizing the rich tourist potential of Khairpur, the discussions focused on providing practical training and skills development for SALU students. Initial plans involve PITHM providing relevant training programs, enabling students to contribute to the development of Khairpur’s hotel industry and the broader tourism sector of Sindh.
Dr. Ibupoto expressed his belief that these trainings will empower SALU students, equipping them with marketable skills and opening doors to career opportunities in the growing tourism industry. He envisions this collaboration not only fostering individual employment but also contributing to community development and national progress.
This partnership between SALU and PITHM signifies a proactive approach to empowering youth and harnessing the immense tourism potential of Sindh. By equipping students with relevant skills and providing internship opportunities, this collaboration can empower the next generation to drive economic growth and contribute to the overall development of the region.
