SEPCO employees protested against anti-employee policies

SUKKUR: Workers of All Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Workers Union Sukkur chapter held a protest in front of Sukkur Press Club against the alleged high-handedness of Wapda federal secretary Rashid Mehmood lagrial here on Tuesday.
The union leaders Zahid Hussain Shah, along with Chaudhry Shujaat Ali Ghunro, Abdul Rauf, Dada Deedar Hussain, Abdul Khaliq sawand, Ashfaq Ahmed Maher, Nazar Mohammad Khan, Ghulam Hussain Phulpoto, Hiddayatullah korai, Khalil Ahmed Domki, Abbas Ali Shah, Abid Khoso, Javed Abbasi, Aqeel Ahmed dayu and others addressed the concerns of protesters. They told them that the collective bargaining agent (CBA) has appealed the government at different public forums through protests and in writing to abandon the plan to make line man bound to maintain deta of 300 customers in which there mobile numbers and addresses be present.
They told that shortage of employees in Sepco compelling staff to perform the duty of more than 3 person which are sheer injustice with company staff.
While on other side when contacted with an officer of senior position in company told on the term of anonymity, that more than 90% of operational staff had become facilitator in power theft and causing millions of rupees loss to the company. He further told that whenever senior management took any legal action against these black sheep of the department, than in guise of Union try to scape from such punitive action and today’s protest is also the part of such effort.
