Sukkur Municipal Corporation vehicles misused for Election campaign: Outrage ensues

SUKKUR: A scandal has erupted in Sukkur as vehicles belonging to the Municipal Corporation have been caught being used for election campaigning. Instead of fulfilling their regular duties of clearing encroachments and maintaining traffic lights, these vehicles have been spotted transporting and installing campaign banners for certain PP candidates.
According to reports from the Anti-Encroachment Force department, a Municipal Corporation vehicle bearing registration number GS-4022PP was observed carrying candidate penaflex banners. Upon being confronted by media representatives, the driver reportedly attempted to flee. This incident has sparked outrage among citizens and demands for immediate action from the Election Commission of Pakistan.
This blatant misuse of official resources for electoral purposes raises serious concerns about ethical conduct and fair campaign practices. By allegedly providing vehicles and personnel for a specific candidate, the Municipal Corporation is seen as favoring one party over another, thus undermining the integrity of the electoral process.
Furthermore, the negligence towards primary duties is another cause for concern. While city residents struggle with encroachments and malfunctioning traffic lights, it is unacceptable for municipal vehicles to be diverted for campaign purposes. This diversion of resources hinders essential services and disrupts the public’s trust in the corporation’s impartiality.
