SUKKUR: Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), has made public claims of being blackmailed by a group of individuals for the past five months. In a video message, Dr. Ibupoto alleges that several university officials, journalists, and social media activists threatened to leak a compromising video of him unless he complied with their demands.
The accused individuals, including network operator Rashdi, administrative officer Tahir Abbass Khaskheli, data processing officer Mohammad Younis Phuelpoto, local journalist Abuzar Ghafar Shar, and social media activist Shukat Zardari, are said to have sought preferential treatment under the current administration. Dr. Ibupoto further claims that the alleged video is fabricated and created using technology.
Responding to these allegations, the university community, including teachers, staff, and students, has expressed mixed reactions. While some have voiced support for Dr. Ibupoto and called for a thorough investigation, others have demanded his removal amid the controversy.
Dr. Ibupoto has already filed a formal complaint with the cyber crime wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on September 9, 2023, against the named individuals. The FIA is currently investigating the matter, and no official conclusions have been drawn.
It is important to note that these are serious allegations against all parties involved and require an impartial investigation before reaching any judgment.
