SUKKUR: Violations of labor laws continue in Sukkur and surrounding districts. According to the details of the labor department, labor laws are being violated in Sukkur, but the labor department established to prevent these violations is completely inactive and its officers and staff are not aware of the violations. The prevention is limited to the offices instead of solving them. In Sukkur’s biggest date market, the traders of the date market are busy taking labor at low wages from the women and men workers and suppressing the wages of the workers if they raise their voice against it. Complaints about this have been made several times to the officers of the Labor Department, but that did not reach to the ears of these officers and on the basis of these complaints, the shops of the labor officers’ earnings were opened, and now the labor officers in Sukkur have opened shops and masons. The series of monthly collections has also started in the name of license from Sukkur. The political, social and public circles have expressed concern over the bad performance of the labor department in Sukkur and have demanded the government of Sindh to pay attention to this. On the other hand, the Deputy Director of Labor when contacted said that no complaint had been received in this regard, if there was a complaint regarding the wages, it could be submitted to them.
