World radio day observed by media and communication studies SALU Khairpur

KHAIRPUR: The World Radio Day was observed by the Department of Media & Communication Studies, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur in collaboration with Media Society. Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences presided over the event while Prof. Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, Secretary Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), Islamabad was the chief guest.
Talking to the participants of the event, Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari said the role of Radio is remarkable during the war and peace especially Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) has played pivotal role in the promotion of Islamic values, ideological basis of Pakistan. During the 1965 and 1971 Wars, the Radio Pakistan played its dynamic role against the Indian aggression and supported the Pak Army against Indian hegemonic designs and aggression. Dr. Taj Lashari commended the efforts of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto for promotion of co-curricular activities at the campus.
Prof. Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah said that Radio remained main source of information related to education, agriculture, national integration, sports etc. He emphasized the need that the youth of Media & Communication Studies Department may avail the current knowledge of media so they could play their positive role in the nation building with positivity. Dr. Mallah appreciated the efforts of Students Societies for capacity building of students of University.
Prof. Dr. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Abro, Chairman Department of Media & Communication Studies said that in the advent of social media, the importance of Radio has been adversely affected. The theme of this year is Radio and Peace aimed at promoting the inclusive culture, tolerance and peace building. He said community based issues may be highlighted and pinpointed by Radio. It is in need of the time to restore the Medium Waves Service of PBC.
