Foolproof security arrangements should be made during the election, Ijaz Anwar Chauhan

SUKKUR: Provincial Election Commissioner Sindh Ijaz Anwar Chauhan presided over an important meeting with the concerned authorities of Sukkur Division in connection with the arrangements for the upcoming general elections 2024 at Commissioner Office Sukkur. In the meeting, Commissioner Sukkur Division Samiuddin Siddiqui, Regional Election Commissioner Sukkur Waseem Ahmad Jafri, Additional Commissioner Sukkur, District Election Officer, Deputy Commissioners of Sukkur, Khairpur and Ghotki districts, SSPs, Engineer Education Works, Director of Schools and Colleges and others concerned. Officials attended.
On this occasion, Provincial Election Commissioner Ijaz Anwar Chauhan said that it is the responsibility of the Election Commission of Pakistan to conduct free and fair elections in the country, for which all the stakeholders of the division should fulfill their responsibilities honestly.
The Provincial Election Commissioner directed the DROs to immediately resolve the issues of clean drinking water, washrooms, polling station boundary, furniture, electricity and infrastructure in the polling station so that the public can easily vote on the election day. Any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated. He further said that every polling is important during elections and all stakeholders should strengthen coordination among themselves to start work on CCTV cameras where required.
Provincial Election Commissioner Sindh Ijaz Anwar Chauhan said that the DCs have no shortage of human resources and the polling staff is also present in the division. He said that if there are health department buildings, reserve them for polling and report to the Regional Election Commissioner.
On this occasion, Regional Election Commissioner Sukkur Waseem Ahmad Jafari while giving a briefing said that there are 3040256 registered voters in 7 constituencies of National Assembly and 14 constituencies of Provincial Assembly in Sukkur division, a total of 2292 polling stations and 7927 polling booths will be built. Considering the previous elections in this division, 545 polling stations have been declared as sensitive and 1074 polling stations as highly sensitive.
