SUKKUR: Instead of solving the problems of the residents of Sukkur, the Municipal corporation and district government created more problems. The main problems in the area are lack of sanitation, stagnation of filthy water, dilapidated condition of the roads. The various roads of the city Sukkur including Clock tower, Hussaiee road , Muqam road remains filled with sewage water. Due to lack of sanitation, these areas became stinky. Streets and roads, and neighborhoods of Railway ground, wari tarh road , Hira hospital areas are filled with sewage water and garbage piles. Due to lack of sanitation, the entire area became stinky. These areas and their roads remain blocked due to lack of cleanliness. The residents of the areas have been victims of dozens of epidemic diseases. In this regard, the UC staff say that cleaning the drains and drains is not included in our domain. While the residents of the area have demanded the administration particularly DC to get cleaned the streets, drains and sewers in a good manner on a daily basis, including picking up garbage from all over the area. These problems are due to un availablity of proper and clean sewage lines, outdated system of pumping stations and lack of manpower. Complaints regarding sewage are common in most areas of Clock tower and Hussaiee road. Sewage water is entering not only roads and streets but also houses and shops. Municipal Commissioner Muhammad Ali Shaikh has stopped sitting in his office as the issues were not resolved. In this regard, UC vice Chairman Nadir Chohan said that the biggest problem in the area is water supply and drainage. As soon as they reach the office, residents of the area pile up complaints about drainage and this process continues throughout the day. He said that on the one hand there is a problem of lack of correctness and cleanliness of sewage line in the area and on the other hand there is a shortage of employees. Unfortunately, the pumping system has lost its efficiency. Very few pumping stations are functioning. They are not fully functioning due to high load.
Residents who suffer from dirt and trouble say that the condition of the area has been bad for the last 60 days.
Municipal officials have been informed several times in this regard, but only assurances are given. Area people, also complained to DC Sukkur in the past few days regarding sewage problems they pointed out. People appealed to the higher authorities to solve the water supply and drainage problems of the city and repair the roads at the earliest opportunity.
